Mechanism

The fee follows the NYSE calendar.

OWL is the common pair in every pool. Each tokenized stock is paired with OWL, so a swap between two stock tokens routes through two OWL pools. One Uniswap v4 hook is attached to every pool. On each swap it maps the current time to one of four states and applies that state's fee.

Routing volume

Every swap between paired stock tokens passes through OWL pools and pays the fee of the current state.

Dislocation volume

While the NYSE is closed, tokenized prices drift from the last primary-market price. Closing that gap is swap volume, and it happens almost entirely while the fee is 0.30% or higher.

Every swap fee is split the same way. The buyback share is spent on open-market purchases of OWL, and those purchases run only in the Stirring, Awake, and Hunting states. That puts every buy in the hours the fee is highest, and every buy is a visible onchain transaction.

Hunt

The buyback program. 20% of fees, spent on OWL only while the NYSE is closed.
